Chances are that you’ve came to this post from my Ultimate Guide To Making Money Online, but if you didn’t & you happened to come straight to this post from elsewhere (such as a social media site or search engine) then I want to give you the heads up that it’s a worthwhile post to check out once you’re done with this one.
Before I get started with this post there is one thing I want to quickly explain, and that is…
What exactly do I mean by “hands-off” ways to make money?
Basically, as you probably already know there are lot’s of different ways to make money online. This is great in one respect, but in another it can be a total nightmare as it can make finding the particular method(s) that are best for you & your circumstances really difficult.
If you’re the kind of person that’s just looking for something to supplement your current income to treat yourself or their family a little bit more often without putting in a great deal of time & effort then this post is for you.
I’ve named them “hands-off” ways to make money as these methods are the ones that I’ve came across which I feel require the least amount of time, attention & effort.
There are a few methods listed here that can prove to be pretty lucrative but please bear in mind that these are the easiest methods around so set a low bar for your expectations. These methods do certainly have the potential to put a healthy profit in your pocket but chances are they aren’t going to turn you into a millionaire overnight.
If you’re looking for alternate methods (that require more time/effort) to take your income to the next level then be sure to check out this post once you’re done here.
Without further ado, here are some hands-off ways to make a little bit of extra money online…
Done correctly, matched betting provides you with a risk-free & legal way to profit from free-bet offers ran by online bookmakers. Essentially it’s a way for you to “beat the bookies” and it can provide you with the opportunity to make up to thousands of pounds per month in additional income. Previously a lot of people were put off matched betting because it was a confusing & long-winded process however websites like Profit Accumulator have made it super-easy for anybody to take advantage of. Matched betting is without a doubt up there as one of my top recommendations for anybody looking to make an extra income without giving up a great deal of their time. Click here for my full guide on matched betting.
Websites like eToro have revolutionised the whole concept of trading & created platforms that enable even complete newcomers to make profitable trades. There is risk involved however these websites have minimised it by enabling you to simply watch the trades that the experts make & copy them to profit yourself. It’s what’s known as social trading and it’s becoming very popular very quickly as people with no previous experience have been able to make 4, 5 and even 6 figure incomes from this method alone. As I say there is risk involved so tread carefully but with a level head this could be very lucrative indeed.
Whilst Get-Paid-To websites don’t offer life-changing amounts of cash, they are probably one of the (if not the) most popular ways that people chose to make money online simply because of their simplicity. Basically they are websites which will pay you in return for completing menial tasks, and tasks could include anything from completing surveys to testing out websites or even playing games. One of the biggest and top recommended GPT websites is SwagBucks but for a whole load more go take a look at this post.
Create a Fiverr Gig
There’s a website named Fiverr which is a great way to make money on the side by selling a skill or service. You can offer near enough anything you like (as long as it’s legal) and examples include things like designing a logo, recording a video testimonial or proofreading somebody’s college work. The more interesting & appealing the service is that you’re offering the more demand you’ll get & ultimately the more money you’ll make but regardless there’s certainly an opportunity there for everybody at least a little bit of money.
Whilst this one probably isn’t something that’s going to make you money right away, if you enjoy writing or are passionate about a subject it can make for a nice & fun passive income of around $50 to $100 per month a couple of years down the line. The best way to describe HubPages is as a social network for writers, but one that you get to make money from. It’s also a great place to meet other people who are also passionate about the same subjects as you, so with HubPages you can find you end up so engulfed in the community spirit that the payments just end up becoming a bonus.
If you’re a budding photographer and take plenty of photos then you could make quite a bit of money by selling these to stock photo websites such as iStock & Adobe Stock (providing they’re good photos of course). This can be a really quick & easy way to cash in on your hobby with sites like Adobe Stock paying up to 33% commission on each one of your images that’s sold through their marketplace. There’s literally minimal work required too as all you’ll need to do is upload your photos, add a few keywords and you’re good to go. It does come without saying though that you’ll need to be the sole owner of every file you upload.
Sell Arts & Crafts
Now this one’s obviously only “hands-off” for those who are already producing arts & crafts as a hobby, but for those who are then Etsy provides you with an easy way to cash in on your work. With just a few clicks you open up your very own arts & crafts shop which can become fairly lucrative depending on the types of work you’re producing. Etsy’s commission comes in at just 3.5% so you get to put near enough the full sale price into your pocket. Definitely one to check out if arts & crafts is your thing.
Legally Lend Your Money & Earn Interest
You may or may not have heard of a website named Zopa. It’s what’s known as a “Peer 2 Peer” lending website & as an investor it enables you to get a higher interest rate on your money than if it were to be simply sat in the bank. This doesn’t come without risk, but it’s managed risk & you get to choose the level of risk you wish to lend your money at, obviously with higher risk paying higher interest rates in return. If you have money sitting around then this is something that’s well worth looking into as depending on how much you’re able to put in it could equate to hundreds if not thousands of pounds per year in interest.
When it comes to making money online that’s about as hands off as it gets. It’s true that you can generate a passive income online but getting an online business to the point of becoming passive takes a lot of hard work, time & dedication so I didn’t include it in this list of “hands-off” ways to make money.
If you’re interested in alternative ways of making money, such as building your very own online business then take a look at this guide that I put together.
The list above may seem relatively short but that’s because I didn’t expand on the Get-Paid-To websites. There are lot’s and lot’s of GPT websites which is why I created a separate, dedicated post outlining all of these websites. If you missed it, click here to see it now.
I really hope that this post was useful to you & that you found a method that you feel will work for you. If however you think there may be something that I’ve missed then please feel free to leave a comment below & let me know – I try my best, but sometimes things do get overlooked.
And remember to check out my Ultimate Guide To Making Money Online too if you haven’t already done so.
