How To Make Money While Driving Your Car

Holding Money In My CarLately I’ve been doing a LOT of driving… and I don’t mind driving, but I personally feel like it’s just dead time.

I mean I’m just sat there doing absolutely nothing other than moving my feet and arms a little bit, for HOURS every week.

It’s just like being a motionary couch potato.

(out of everything I've tried this is my #1 recommendation for making money)

So I asked myself, could I use this “dead time” wisely and actually make some money from it?

It would be great right? Get from A to B & make money at the same time – killing 2 birds with one stone.

The great news is after a little think I come up with and idea, and YES it is possible to make money whilst driving(kind of).

But before I tell you how I plan to go about, and how you can too, I want to put my sensible head on for a second and tell you;

When driving – driving is your number 1 priority – concentrating on the road comes before anything else. So basically if you think this ‘method’ will affect your concentration – do not use it! I’ve put this guide together purely to show you that it’s possible to make money whilst driving, not to tell you to go and do it.

Just covering my a**, you know.

Anyway getting back on track….

How To Make Money While Driving

Burst Your Bubble*Bubble Burster* – this isn’t a method that’s going to instantly start lining your pockets with hundred dollar bills from the get-go, but it’s a method that if followed through works and works very well.

Is it possible to make a living from this method? Yes (but it will require “work”).

So basically if you drive a lot and you’re serious about making some cash on the road, then this is for you. If you’re just looking for ways to get rich quick and searched for a way to make money whilst driving on a whim in the hope that there was some magical method to make you millions overnight – sorry but this isn’t the one.

Obviously there’s all the traditional ways to make money whilst driving e.g. pizza deliveries but that’s not what this guide is about.

This guide is about making money from the driving you’re already doing… So let’s say you drive to work and back each day – this is about how you can make money on THAT journey. It’s not about going on additional journeys to make money.

Holding Steering Wheel DrivingThe main downside of driving is that everything is tied up – your hands are busy, your feet are busy & your concentration is channeled to the road (I hope) – so there’s not really a great deal you can do.

Other than VIDEO.

There are lot’s of ways to monetize (make money) from videos on the internet, and driving is the perfect time to record some.

Not only is it the perfect time because, well, you weren’t doing anything else anyway – but it’s also the perfect time because apparently videos recorded in cars make for much better viewing.

Why?

RECOMMENDED: Go Here To See My No.1 Recommendation For Making Money Online

Well it’s because of the ‘pattern interupts’ (other stuff going on in the background) which makes the video more interesting. If you were recording a video in which you were simply sat against a wall then your viewers would have a much lower attention span. No offence, but it’s boring… With other stuff going on in the background it draws peoples focus – and even if they’re looking at something else it doesn’t matter as long as they’re still listening to what you have to say.

So yeah, tip #1 – videos in cars (or anywhere else with stuff going on in the background) keep viewers much more entertained & results in them watching your video for longer than they would if it was recorded with nothing going on behind you.

Now you can record in 2 ways…

Car Dash CameraYou can have the camera facing the road, or you can have the facing YOU.

There’s no real right or wrong – it totally depends on your objective & what the topic of your videos is going to be about.

For example, if you’re recording videos commentating about other idiots on the road then it’s probably going to be best to have the camera pointing at the road.

Similarly if you’re wanting to chat about your day to day life then your viewers are probably going to want to see you, so it would be wise to have the camera facing yourself.

The bottom line is that I want to make it clear that this can be done by anybody, even those that are camera shy.

But yeah, tip #2 is don’t let shyness hold you back from making money – be a go-getter. People will only mock because they’re jealous of what you’re doing (for real).

So what’s the best way to record yourself (or the road)?

Well there are lot’s of different cameras available – heck even your phone would do. All you need is a mount that will fix it to your windscreen – well at least that’s where I personally find is best to position it, it may differ in your own vehicle.

Here’s an example of a mount you can get for iPhones which would be perfect for recording videos:

iPhone Mount

A quick Google search for ‘iPhone mount’ or similar brings up plenty of results so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one.

I personally just bought a GoPro session because I am actually going to run with this method myself. There’s a lot of money to be made with videos, and it seems that the way internet is going videos are the new thing, so if you’re not recording them you’re getting left behind.

Here’s a pic of the GoPro I just purchased:

GoPro Session

In the photo it’s on the ‘selfie stick’ attachment but I bought an awesome suction cup attachment which sticks it right on the window.

Then you can connect the camera to your iPhone to check it’s setup correct & pointing in the right direction, as you can see in my photo below:

GoPro Session iPhone Connection

But the best thing about this camera is that it records through a ‘fisheye’ type lens which means the videos it produces just seem super amazing compared to any other videos I’ve seen before. I don’t quite know the technical side as to how it does it but take it from me – they’re cool.

I paid around £160 for this camera, so if you’ve got the cash I’d really recommend it. (and no I don’t work for them, just mine only got delivered yesterday so I’m still pretty excited about it). Here’s a video I recorded today just to give you an example of the quality:

So yeah, once you’ve got you’re camera sorted that’s pretty much it – you’re good to go.

So what videos should you record?

Girl Watching YouTube VideoWell the idea is to try and build a following – so ideally you’re videos should follow a similar theme… For example, my videos will all talk about making money online (and similar stuff).

If you don’t feel you’ve got anything to chat about, you can just chat about your everyday life & people will follow you based on who you are. Video is such a great way to connect with people, and you’ll be surprised at how big a following you can get in such a short space of time by just being yourself.

There’s billions of people on the internet, so no matter who you are you’ll find that there’s thousands of people all over the world that resonate with you & want to connect.

…and most importantly want to watch MORE of your videos.

Which is where the money comes in.

It might take days, weeks or even months to begin getting views on your videos – but the second you do is the second you can start making money.

Cash Register Cha-Ching

There are LOT’s of different ways to make money from videos, and many of which can be very lucrative. I personally know a guy that made over a million dollars from YouTube alone before he was 23.

Now I’m not saying you’ll make a million – I mean I sure hope you do, but just think what even an extra $500 or $1,000 per month would do to your life… And it’s so easily within your reach if you just take action on this guide & stay consistent.

Monetizing (making money from) your videos…

YouTube is a great platform to upload your videos to because you can directly make money from YouTube itself.

Once your videos gain a certain amount of views you’ll be asked if you’d like to participate in the YouTube partner earnings programme. Basically they’ll run ads over, before or alongside your videos and you’ll earn money each time somebody either watches your video or clicks an ad (depending on which ad type is displayed).

That’s as simple as it gets – literally all you need to do from then on is keep uploading videos to YouTube and they’ll automatically add any earnings to your account for you to withdraw as and when people/view click the adverts on your videos.

Now things do start getting a little more complex when you look at tweaking things and trying to maximise your earnings, but I’ll write another post on that soon and link to it from here. Basically they give you the option to choose which types of ads you want, when you want them to display etc… It’s nothing too difficult but there is a bit of a science behind perfecting it so if you don’t quite know what you’re doing you’re best just leaving it as it is until you do some research.

But there’s even more ways to make money!

So YouTube will pay you for people watching your videos, but that’s just the beginning – there’s still plenty of other ways you can make money from your videos so why stop there.

Blog Post With Video EmbeddedThe first thing you could do is setup your own blog (like this one), then add your videos along with a little write up. That way you get to add your OWN adverts alongside your posts too.

So YouTube will be paying you, and now you’ll also be making money from anybody that ends up watching the video via your blog too.

Boom – 2 income streams nailed already.

But it doesn’t stop there.

To take it a step further you could even become an affiliate for companies and use your videos as a stage to promote their products. There’s lot’s of different affiliate programs out there but generally they’ll pay you either a fixed sum per sale or a percentage.. This can very quickly rack up to a serious amount of money (hence how my friend I mentioned above managed to make over 1 million in sales prior to turning 23).

And since all these 3 things can be ran simultaneously that means…

Triple Boom – 3 income streams nailed!

The potential is insane.

Shovelling MoneyThe internet has changed a lot since I started out and video nowadays is becoming a BIG thing.

There is a LOT of money to be made “vlogging” and as I mentioned above if you’re not doing it, you’re getting left behind.

Let me just put it into perspective – YouTube is the second biggest search engine on the internet.

Yep – that’s right, forget the likes of Bing & Yahoo, they’re small time.

Google comes first, YouTube comes close second.

And there’s affiliate companies out there paying commissions of $100, $500, and even $1000’s for every sale you bring to their company.

So combine those potential earnings with the second biggest audience in the world & you’re onto a winner.

That’s why I went out and spent £160 on a GoPro – because in my eyes that was a very small investment for such a huge opportunity, and you’ll very shortly start seeing me publishing my own videos as I’ve already been putting it off for too long.

There’s only 3 things you need to do to become succesful with vlogging and those things are;

  • Be yourself – to resonate with like-minded people & build a following
  • Vlog whenever and wherever you can – the more the better
  • Keep consistant – earnings might fluctuate, vlogging might get boring, but keep at it – consistency pays off

Something important to note…

Whilst I said you can record your videos about anything (which is true), it’s worth noting that some niches are a substantially more lucrative than others.

For example, the beauty/cosmetic industry isn’t massively lucrative unless you have a really big following – since it’s such a saturated industry with it being such a popular choice for vloggers & bloggers alike.

Something like weight loss on the other hand is a lot more lucrative – since it’s massively sought after and people will pay almost anything to magically get rid of their fat.

Now I’m not saying you should just go into creating videos based on the most lucrative industry, but it’s something worth thinking about. Don’t choose a subject you don’t know much about simply because it pays well as you won’t be creating your videos with integrity. You might pull it off for a couple of shows but you’re viewers will quickly become suspect & smell a rat.

Choose something you’re passionate about & regardless of how much the niche is worth you’ll earn more talking about what you’re passionate about than you will anything else. That’s because you’re passion will resonate with your viewers & you’re follower base will grow ten-fold.

Your action steps.

I’ve gone over quite a lot in this post so I felt like I needed to put together a quick summary of what action steps you should take to start making money whilst driving, so here goes;

  • Get a camera, start recording videos on a subject you’re passionate about.
  • Upload the videos to YouTube, creating as many as you can, and creating them as regularly as you can.
  • When your videos get enough views, enable monetization through YouTube.
  • Create a blog and compile a short write up for each video you produce (embedding the video in the post too of course).
  • Monetize your blog with programmes such as Google Adsense (very easy to implement, and very good payments).
  • Join affiliate programmes & use your videos as a platform to promote products for companies for a commission.
  • Share everything you do on social media to gain as much eyeballs on your content as possible.

I will shortly be adding a detailed guide on the monetization side of things, and when I do I’ll link to it from here so that you can see EXACTLY how you can start making money from your videos.

The main thing you need to do right now is get out there and start producing some videos!

Good luck, and remember – stay safe on those roads.
