Increase Conversions & Earn More Money With Geo-Targeting

Pins Placed on MapAs a website or blog owner you should have an overall primary goal for your traffic, such as a specific sales funnel that you wish to send people through or a specific product that you’d like them to purchase.

You’ll no doubt have other avenues of making money on your website too such as affiliate links & advertisements, but generally these will be seen as “entry point” offers as opposed to being the main goal.

But whilst this method of funneling people through a primary goal generally works very well, the problem is that you’ll be likely to have traffic coming to your website or blog from all the corners of the world which means that your primary offer most likely won’t be suitable for everybody.

(out of everything I've tried this is my #1 recommendation for making money)

And if your offer isn’t suitable, you’re leaving money on the table.

Here’s An Example of What I Mean…

Right here on my blog I discuss all different aspects of making money online & I like to share my top recommendations with my readers to give them a good place to start out.

However, my blog attracts people from pretty much every single different country in the world & that means that the same recommendations won’t be applicable to everybody who’s visiting.

For example, Profit Accumulator is one of my top recommendations for people who live in the UK but it’s not going to provide any value to people that live in South Africa because they wouldn’t be eligible to join.

So if I was to recommend Profit Accumulator to one of my South African visitors it would be a total wasted effort. I wouldn’t earn anything for referring them (since they wouldn’t be able to join) and they’re going to be pretty disappointed that I’ve given them a naff recommendation.

So Geo-targeting is absolutely vital, because it not only helps you make more money, but it helps you provide more value to your users too.

Geo-Targeting Is a Game Changer

Accurate ArrowWith Geo-targeting you can make sure that absolutely every visitor to your website is provided with a relevant offer that they can benefit from, and that you can make money from.

Implementing Geo-targeting into your business can literally send your income soaring overnight because you’re simply opening up to a market that you already had.

These people were already coming to you & already interested in what you had to offer, it’s just that they weren’t eligible to make a purchase because of where they lived.

So by providing with the next best thing that is available to them you can quickly & easily turn your once lost visitors into a new found source of income.

Here’s 2 Easy Ways You Can Implement It…

First thing’s first you’ll need to figure out which offers you plan on running for which countries.

As an example I could send my UK visitors to the Profit Accumulator website & I could send the rest of my visitors to the Wealthy Affiliate website.

Now what you need to do is run a redirect to the relevant offer based on the users location & there are 2 different ways that you can do this.

First of all I’m going to show you how to do it by using a little bit of PHP code, then I’ll show you how to do it using ClickMagick. I personally use the PHP method but if you’re not too comfortable adding & editing code then the ClickMagick option might be the better avenue for you.

Running The Redirect With PHP

All you need to do is create a new file & name it “whatever.php” (without quotes) and change “whatever” to well, whatever you’d like to call it.

This is the file you’ll be linking people to in order to redirect them to your offer based on their location, so maybe you’d just like to call it “geo-redirect.php”.

Then, you just need to add the following snippet of code to the file:

(this is 100% free training for making 5-figures per month)

Redirect Code

<?
$ip = $_SERVER[‘REMOTE_ADDR’];
$details = json_decode(file_get_contents(“http://ipinfo.io/{$ip}”));

if ($details->country == “US”) {
header(“Location: http://www.somewebsite.com/some-offer.php”);
die();
} else {
header(“Location: http://www.somewebsite.com/some-other-offer.php”);
die();
}
?>

The code above uses the ipinfo.io API, which means it sends the visitors IP to that website and they send back the relevant country code.

In the example above it’s simply setup to check if the user resides in the US & if they do they’ll be sent to a different page than the rest of the users.

If we wanted to add more countries it would just be a simple case of adding more if statements, like so:

Redirect Code

<?
$ip = $_SERVER[‘REMOTE_ADDR’];
$details = json_decode(file_get_contents(“http://ipinfo.io/{$ip}”));

if ($details->country == “US”) {
header(“Location: http://www.somewebsite.com/some-offer.php”);
die();
} else if ($details->country == “GB”) {
header(“Location: http://www.somewebsite.com/some-uk-offer.php”);
die();
} else {
header(“Location: http://www.somewebsite.com/some-other-offer.php”);
die();
}
?>

Now as you can see in the above example we’ve set up a redirect specifically for US & another one specifically for GB.

Hopefully that makes sense.

If not, you can sign up for ClickMagick instead & user their service to handle your Geo-redirects. The added benefit of using ClickMagick is that you’ll be able to get detailed reports on the traffic that’s coming through your links too.

ClickMagick isn’t free, but I’d like to think that adding Geo-targeting to your business would make the cost of ClickMagick worthwhile & at the time of writing this post you can get a free-trial to try it out before you commit. Another great benefit is that they let you automatically send mobile traffic to different locations too.

Ultimately though which route you go down is completely up to you because as far as Geo-targeting is concerned both will give you similar results.

The Results?

I personally went for years without running any sort of Geo-targeting & it’s a big regret of mine, almost as big a regret as not building an email list.

Graph Showing Sharp IncreaseGeo-targeting is a really simple way that you can dramatically increase the income from your website & you’d have to be silly not to implement it because you really are just leaving money on the table.

I can say confidently that you will see results from Geo-targeting your traffic & generally you’ll notice the results very quickly too, since you’ll have most likely already have the traffic, just not the offers to monetize it.

So whilst this hasn’t been one of the most in-depth posts in the world (because there’s just simply not a great deal to it), I hope you enjoyed it all the same & I hope it helps you in taking your business to the next level.

If you have any questions or comments then be sure to leave them below, I always love hearing from my readers & I’m always happy to help you out. 😀

Oh, and whilst we’re on the topic of increasing conversions here’s another post you might be interested in before you go.
